Probably the biggest game in English football, United v Liverpool, and United failed to turn up, getting comprehensively beaten by our bitter rivals, 3-0, in a game where United gave away 3 penalties and had Nemanja Vidic sent off.
David de Gea: Prevented the score from being even more embarrasing than it already was. Could do little about the goals. Seemed to have a word with Gerrard before he thumped his 3rd pen against the post, before smartly saving a late Suarez strike. 6/10
Rafael: Gave away the first penalty with a handball, but was probably our brightest spark and greatest attacking threat from right back. Got forward all game long. 6/10
Phil Jones: Gave away the second penalty less than 30 seconds into the second half when he clumsily bundled over Joe Allen but otherwise had made a few decent challenges. 5/10
Nemanja Vidic: Once again, sent off against Liverpool. However it was harsh one, picking up a second yellow card even though there was no contact with Sturridge. Had had a decent game until then. 6/10
Patrice Evra: Did very little today. 5/10
Adnan Januzaj: Started slowly out on the left but had more fortune on the right against Flanagan, but still couldn’t quite create anything of real note. Replaced by Danny Welbeck. 5/10
Michael Carrick: Poor in the middle today and overrun by Liverpool’s midfield. Out of position and poor in possession at times. 3/10
Marrouane Fellaini: Following a good performance against West Brom, this was more like the Fellaini we have got used to…poor. Overrun and outplayed, before being replaced by the villain of the moment, Tom Cleverley. 4/10
Juan Mata: Started wide right, finished wide left before being replaced. Failed to influence the game and we lacked his usual creativity. Replaced by Rio Feedinand. 4/10
Wayne Rooney: Had the only shot on target for United. Did have a few other shots but they were blocked by Liverpools resolute defence. Lost the ball on numerous occasions though. 5/10
Robin van Persie: Caught offside quite a few times. 4 shots, 3 blocked and the other off target. Did little else. 4/10
Substitutes
Danny Welbeck: Came on for Januzaj but hardly touched the ball. 4/10
Tom Cleverley: Replaced Fellaini and didn’t really improve things. 4/10
Rio Ferdinand: Replaced Mata but not enough time to mark
