With one eye on the Community Shield on Sunday, Moyes left some key first team players at home – including Rio Ferdinand and Tom Cleverley. This gave Angelo Henriquez the chance to make his United debut, and he duly delivered, by scoring United’s equalising goal.
The young Chilean striker looked sharp albeit he was played out of position on the left. Surprisingly, Bebe did well too when he came off the bench late on.
Lindegaard – Didn’t have an awful lot to do. Made a couple of decent saves but distribution was poor. 6/10
Rafael – Had a quiet game at right-back. Allowed himself to be beaten by his man far too easily on occasion. 5/10
Evans – Did well and looked solid. However was subbed off in the second half with an ankle problem. 6/10
Vidic – It was great having the club captain back. He led from the back and got stuck in when needed. Man of the Match. 8/10
Evra – Looked great going forward and offered himself as an outlet. Lacking defensively. 5/10
Nani – Had an excellent opening 20 minutes. Unfortunately forced off due to injury midway through the first half. 6/10
Carrick – Played a few wayward passes but helped out the defence when needed. 6/10
Anderson – Completed his third 90 minutes of United’s pre-season. Played some nice passes and wasn’t afraid to run with the ball. 6/10
Zaha – Had a quiet game but provided the assist for the goal which is the mark of a good player. 6/10
Giggs – Did ok. Kept it simple but didn’t really threaten. 6/10
Van Persie – Not at his best. He built up the play nicely but struggled with his shooting. 5/10
Subs:
Amos – Second half sub. Couldn’t do anything about the goal. 6/10
Smalling – Came on for Evans but didn’t have much to do.
Welbeck – Not enough time to mark.
Henríquez – Had an excellent game and capped it off with a goal. Must’ve forced his way into Moyes’ thoughts at least. 8/10
Bebé – Only got 10 minutes but played in about 4 or 5 decent crosses, one of which Van Persie should’ve buried. 6/10
