Player Ratings: United 1-2 West Brom

David de Gea – Made some good saves, but couldn’t do anything about either goal. 6/10

Phil Jones – Doesn’t look comfortable as a right-back. Didn’t get out to his man quick enough and didn’t offer enough width going forward. 5/10

Jonny Evans – One of our better performers. Did ok defensively, especially in the first half. Could’ve moved the ball forward far quicker though. 6/10

Rio Ferdinand – Rio had a shocker. He looked slow and didn’t get out to young Berahino anywhere near quick enough. 4/10

Alex Buttner – Looked great on Wednesday night which warranted his inclusion yesterday. He did alright and put in some good tackles. Struggled going forward though, which is usually his strength. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Struggled to pick a pass which was unusual for him. He didn’t get much help from his front men though, the movement all-round was poor. 5/10

Anderson – Anderson’s first league start of the season ends in defeat. He started well but faded badly. I don’t think he found a red shirt once in the second half… 4/10

Nani – For me Nani is our best winger. He isn’t afraid to try and beat his man and get his shot off which is something a lot of our players are lacking at the moment. He did ok in the first half but struggled in the second, possibly due to match fitness. 5/10

Wayne Rooney – Once again our best player by a country mile and the only one who seemed to want it. He often found himself out of position due to the poorness of play from everyone else. Man of the Match. He fully deserved his goal. 6/10

Shinji Kagawa – Once again stuck out on the left. He looked bright early on and linked up play well. Unsure as to why he got brought off at half-time unless he picked up an injury. 6/10

Javier Hernandez – Struggled to get into the game due to the lack of service. His movement was superb as always, though. 5/10

Subs:

Adnan Januzaj – Januzaj grew into the game the longer it went on. He looked the most threatening, and often beat his man out wide before putting in a good cross. 6/10

Robin van Persie – Struggled to get on the ball due to the lack of service which wasn’t entirely his fault. 5/10

Marouane Fellaini – Another not so convincing performance from Fellaini. Won his fair share of headers but that was about it. 5/10

  1. I will rate Rio 1/10. Abysmal performance from him.

Fellaini is 0/10. He does not move the ball and runs slowly behind his opponents. His legs are heavy.

The defence and the midfield, don’t move the ball swiftly resulting in strikers suffering themselves.

Gea lacks flex. A good keeper that has flex should have been able to save the second goal. Even challenge the first goal as well. He is always stuck to the ground.

  2. Are you watching the same match? Nani was easily the only creative spark upfront for us and you rate him a 5? Nani was easily a 7 for his contribution and MoM. The worst player for us was Rio he should have been rated 0 or 1, and your rating of Anderson was too harsh, he provided movement and cover in midfield not great but does not deserve a 4, would put him at least a 6. You must be confused with Carrick cause after he came in for Anderson, We lost the midfield and WBA ran riot, Carrick should be rated a 3…….cause he retarded our midfield, and he should never be played together with Felaini in midfield, another Man City incident.
