Player Ratings: United 4-0 Norwich

David de Gea – Distributed the ball excellently, made some super saves and was a presence in the air. 7/10

Phil Jones – Not his natural position and you could tell, especially when going forward. His defensive work was good when required. 6/10

Rio Ferdinand – Calm and composed, just as you’d expect. 6/10

Nemanja Vidic – Read the game superbly, and dominated in the air just as you’d expect. 7/10

Patrice Evra – Looked tired as the game wore on, but on the whole did ok. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Seemed to have found that extra yard of pace. His crossing was on point, and he set up the final goal well. 6/10

Michael Carrick – He was tidy in possession, but his game still lacks that killer pass this year. 6/10

Tom Cleverley – Brought energy into the side, but didn’t take a chance given to him by the new gaffer. Average. 5/10

Shinji Kagawa – Involved in some nice little interchanges, but his final ball let him down on occasion. 5/10

Wayne Rooney – Led from the front. Took his penalty excellently, and his second goal was a bit of magic. Could’ve had a hat-trick. Man of the Match. 8/10

Danny Welbeck – Unlucky not to have scored. Worked hard, and had a couple of decent efforts on goal. 6/10

Subs:

Juan Mata – Scored twice within ten minutes of coming on. His first was a super finish. 7/10

Ashley Young – Didn’t see much of the ball. Had a couple of efforts late on, both wayward. 5/10

Javier Hernandez – Nutmegged two players in the space of 20 minutes. He brought energy to the pitch. 6/10

  1. Thought shiji was fantastic , didn’t think Rooney was MOTM but was still very good also Valencia failed to beat the first man too many times but agree with everything else .

    • What this with Rooney? Not a bad game but MOTM? Constantly loses the ball and to tell the truth has a terrible first touch.Definitely has skills, and a fantastic passer of the ball but not the man to build your team around.

  2. These ratings are identical every week. What is the point of writing an article like this if the ratings are exactly the same regardless of the team performance? We utterly outplayed Norwich and yet most of the players get a 6 or max 7? Do you even watch the games??

  3. It’s very hard to take this seriously after you read that Valencia’s crosses were ‘on point’! Shocking crossing all game, all season.

  4. You must be either:
    1. Drunk
    2. Don’t know football well enough
    3. Rooney fanatic

Or you might as well be all of the above.
