David de Gea – Made some world class saves once again. Wouldn’t have won the game without him. 7/10
Ashley Young – Looked a bit rusty. Got caught in possession a couple of times which could have been costly. 5/10
Chris Smalling – Controlled the back four excellently. Won several headers, made some huge tackles and key interceptions. 8/10
Phil Jones – Did well alongside Chris Smalling. Unfortunately brought off due to injury. 7/10
Daley Blind – Didn’t really have an impact on the game from in the left-back spot. 6/10
Morgan Schneiderlin – Did the dirty work excellently. Didn’t give Watford a sniff until the dying embers of the game. 6/10
Bastian Schweinsteiger – Maestro. He bossed the midfield, and kept United moving forward. Scored the winner as we approached the 90th minute. 7/10
Juan Mata – Unusually quiet. Gave it away far too often and didn’t really penetrate. 5/10
Ander Herrera – Grabbed himself an excellent assist before suffered an hamstring injury. 7/10
Jesse Lingard – Should have scored late on, but aside front at he was great. 7/10
Memphis Depay – Absolutely outstanding. Ran the channels, threatened throughout and took his goal wonderfully. 8/10 Man of the Match.
Subs:
Marcos Rojo – Made a shocking tackle to give Watford a penalty and a way back into the game.
Paddy McNair – Did well, and bombed forward where possible. Nice to see him involved.
Andreas Pereira – Not enough time to mark.
