Player Ratings: Watford 3-1 Manchester United

David de Gea – The Spaniard looked uncharacteristically shaky in the first half. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Pretty good defensively, but lacking going forward. 5/10

Chris Smalling – Poor upon his Premier League return. Didn’t deal with Deeney at all. 3/10

Eric Bailly – Not his best afternoon. Struggled with the physicality of Watford’s front line. 4/10

Luke Shaw – Did alright, but wasn’t helped by his teammates at all. 5/10

Marouane Fellaini – Pretty awful. Gave away a silly penalty, and just didn’t do his defensive duties anywhere near well enough. 4/10

Paul Pogba – You expect better from the most expensive player in the world. Just not good at all. 4/10

Anthony Martial – Fouled for Watford’s opener, then subbed off with concussion. 4/10

Wayne Rooney – Atrocious. Couldn’t pick a pass, didn’t drive United forward and wasn’t threatening. How is he still getting starts in completely beyond me. 3/10

Marcus Rashford – United’s best player. Looked threatening, and shown his pace on plenty of occasions. Deserved to score our goal, but got no help at all. 7/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Tested Gomes with a solid header. Pretty quiet aside from that. 5/10

Subs:

Ashley Young – No cutting edge or penetration.

Juan Mata – Not bad, but didn’t really threaten.

Memphis Depay – Not enough time to mark.
