Paul Pogba may never play for Man United again…
Manchester United Football Club spent big to bring Paul Pogba back home five-and-a-half years ago. It’s fair to say the Frenchman’s time back here at Old Trafford has been mixed.
The performance levels picked up under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but those have since dipped again, with a dreadful showing against Atalanta coming straight to my mind.
On Monday, Pogba picked up an injury while away with France. He’s likely to be out of action until the New Year – giving Solskjaer a serious selection headache.
Well, according to the Daily Star, Pogba could’ve played his last game for the club. Nope, you read that correctly…
As we all know, Pogba’s contract is winding down. He would be free to move elsewhere for nothing next summer. However, there’s now a possibility he could leave in January.
Before I go any further, it’s stated that United would prefer to keep the Frenchman and let him walk away for nothing. But, if Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain come in with a ‘sizeable offer’ in January, the Reds would consider cutting their losses and letting him leave.
The obvious concern for United is replacing Pogba. Buying in the mid-season window is never easy, though it does look like they’ll have to replace the 28-year-old at some point over the next six months.
Is Donny van de Beek that man? Who knows, but either way, an extra body is going to be needed as soon as Pogba leaves for good.
Personally, I’d like to see United get away from Pogba. The constant transfer chatter from his agent and brother have absolutely thrown shade upon his time here. I reckon we’d see a more positive atmosphere around the place as soon as he leaves this place for good.
