The Champions League group stage draw takes place in Monaco today, and ahead of the draw we have a look at potential opponents. United have been seeded first, meaning most of Europe’s elite will be avoided until the first knockout round at least, providing we make it that far ourselves of course.
Last year we bowed out of the competition relatively early at the last sixteen stage, where Cristiano Ronaldo and his Real Madrid side beat us 3-2 on aggregate with a little help from Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir.
Moyes will be hoping for a different result this time round though, with it being his first time managing United in European football.
Easiest potential group:
Manchester United
Olympique de Marseille
Olympiakos
Austria Wien
Potential group of death:
Manchester United
PSG
Borussia Dortmund
Napoli
Judging by the way our draws have gone so far this year, you’d imagine we’ll be in for another tough one in Europe, too. It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if we were involved in something similar to the ‘group of death’, where any of the four teams have the quality to qualify.
juventus and napoli are from the same country mate.
Napoli and Juventus can’t be drawn in the same group.Sub in Ath Madrid for Juventus and that is a group of death!
Oh yeah, how silly, sorry!
Changed to PSG!
