Marouane Fellaini has informed Manchester United and Jose Mourinho that he plans to leave the club this summer, reported by The Sun in an exclusive.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, and Fellaini has turned down a contract offer from the Old Trafford club as he seeks a new challenge elsewhere.
Apparently, the self-proclaimed Special One is planning to use United’s warm-weather break in Dubai as an opportunity to convince Fellaini to remain a Red Devil, but the midfielder wants to move on.
As it stands, the player can negotiate a pre-contractual agreement with an overseas club, with the possibility of signing a contract that starts in the summer.
Honestly, I wouldn’t blame him if he leaves. I’ve always thought that the Belgian can do a job for us when required, but large parts of the fanbase have constantly been on his back since day one. Why would he want to stay here and play for United?
With that said, he’ll always have my respect. Not once has he moaned or whined, he’s always given absolutely everything for the cause and I’ll be sad to see him go.
