Predicted Man United XI vs AZ Alkmaar (Europa League, 2019)

Manchester United take on AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday evening, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men look to make it two wins from two in continental competition.

In a weird way, this tournament could provide United (and their fans) with a welcome relief from the Premier League. The 20-time Premier League champions have struggled domestically, but European football presents this club’s mega-talented youngsters with an opportunity to shine…

Anyway, with injuries still decimating the squad and Solskjaer looking to best manage that. Let’s take a look at the starting line-up United could go with for the game over in Holland.

Predicted Man United XI vs AZ Alkmaar:

Sergio Romero will come back in as he continues to deputise for David de Gea. Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets the nod at right-back after recovering from a bout of tonsilitis. Luke Shaw was back in training on Friday and this will be the opportune moment to get the Englishman back involved. Axel Tuanzebe looked great at left-back against Arsenal (barring one mistake), he’ll partner Victor Lindelof.

Nemanja Matic has been in and out of the team of late, but he’ll play here. For whatever reason, Fred hasn’t been handed a start domestically yet, but the Brazil international deserves to be involved from the off here.

Angel Gomes is who the fans all want to see, so let’s hope he gets a shot in the #10 role. Juan Mata will play from off the right due to his creativity, while Daniel James, who impressed on Monday, will play. Mason Greenwood leads the line as he looks to make it three goals in three starts.
