Predicted Man United XI vs Derby County (FA Cup, 2020)

Manchester United suddenly look like a side capable of going toe-to-toe with the world’s best. Credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for that, as his Red Devils are hitting their stride at exactly the right moment.

The Baby Faced Assassin has definitely been helped by the Bruno Fernandes signing, though players are coming back from injury, too. Right now, the squad is looking relatively healthy, aside from long-term issues to Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before the latter makes his return

Anyway the games are coming pretty thick and fast now, as United look to battle it out in three different competitions. This Thursday, an FA Cup tie against Derby County (and Wayne Rooney) takes centre-stage.

Expect Solskjaer to ring the changes in this one, so we’ve given our best shot at trying to work out what starting line-up United will go with.

Predicted Man United XI vs Derby County in full:

We’ve gone for a typical 4-3-3 formation. As you’d expect, Sergio Romero will likely come back into the team as the goalkeeper as is now customary for cup competitions.

Three of the back four will change. Harry Maguire keeps his place as the captain, though Eric Bailly will partner him at the heart of defence. Brandon Williams gets another start under his belt, while opposite him, Diogo Dalot will be chomping at the bit for his chance.

Scott McTominay will be tasked with protecting the back line, but also told to join in on the attack where possible. Fred will start as per usual, alongside his Brazilian pal Andreas Pereira.

Odion Ighalo comes back into the team to start in the striker role, with Daniel James and Juan Mata both involved here.

The bench will be strong, so no doubt they’ll be plenty of firepower to call upon if needed. However, you’d hope that the Reds will have enough to get this one done and dusted without too much fuss.
