Predicted Man United XI vs Southampton (2019 Premier League)

Manchester United need to head into the international break on the back of a victory, though that’s far easier said than done.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a real task on his hands and it’s going to take an incredible amount of time to get this team right. He needs to be focused on the here and now, and bringing three points back from the South Coast is an absolute must.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has his Saints side playing some excellent stuff, so that’ll be easier said than done. When you factor in a couple of key United injuries, this already looks like a potential stumbling block on paper…

Check out our predicted Man United XI vs Southampton here:

Even though he made a big mistake, David de Gea is a shoe-in to start in between the sticks.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, fresh off his first England call-up, will be feeling confident. Ashley Young will play opposite him over on the left, covering for the injured Luke Shaw. Harry Maguire will start alongside Victor Lindelof.

Scott McTominay will sit at the base of the midfield, with Paul Pogba tasked with a deeper role in order to allow the front-four space and freedom.

Marcus Rashford will start as the striker due to Anthony Martial’s injury. Daniel James will move over to the left, with Jesse Lingard playing on the right. Juan Mata will get his first start of the season in the #10 slot – although personally, I’d love to see Angel Gomes in there…
