Manchester United were made to wait a fair while to discover who they’d play in the FA Cup fourth round, but now they know…
Tranmere Rovers are the opponent after they came through a replay against Watford just last night. With a quick turnaround, tactics and setup has been made far harder for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That said, the Red Devils should have more than enough firepower to come through this one.
First and foremost, this gives United a chance to rotate their squad and rest some key players, while getting another look at some of the talented up-and-comers at Old Trafford who are patiently waiting for their opportunity.
Predicted Man United XI vs Tranmere in full:
Sergio Romero will get more minutes in between the sticks and rightly so. The Argentine is yet to let us down and we should have every confidence in him again this weekend.
Luke Shaw starts at left-back, with Diogo Dalot making his first start since returning from injury in the right-back position. Victor Lindelof has overcome illness, while Eric Bailly is in line for his first senior appearance of the season.
Andreas Pereira will be involved from midfield, with James Garner alongside him – allowing both Fred and Nemanja Matic a much-needed rest. Angel Gomes will be the creative spark in the #10 slot.
Mason Greenwood will start as the main striker and he’ll have two fellow academy graduates helping him out in the form of Tahith Chong and Jesse Lingard.
This starting XI should have more than enough to get the job done comfortably, booking our place in the fifth round draw which takes place this weekend.
