The Red Devils play The Seagulls for the second time in five days tomorrow night, with a spot in the Carabao Cup fifth round at stake. It’s time for our predicted Man Utd XI vs Brighton!
Make no mistake about it, Graham Potter’s men will be out for revenge. Though, as is tradition in the EFL Cup, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will certainly rotate.
Although United managed to scoop all three points at the weekend, the performance was poor from pretty much all the players. That said, Solskjaer’s team have a chance to right those wrongs.
Whatever team the Baby Faced Assassin puts out, we should expect a better showing as those fitness levels continue to improve. In these sort of games, though, it’s all about progression. Anyway, let’s get right into the predicted team…
Predicted Man Utd XI vs Brighton (Carabao Cup 2020/21):

Dean Henderson starting feels like a no-brainer. The Englishman looked confident last time out against Luton Town and I’d expect more of the same here.
Brandon Williams will play as the left-back as he looks to get some minutes under his belt. Over on the right, Timothy Fosu-Mensah continues to get the nod ahead of Diogo Dalot. Harry Maguire will start, and captain United. Eric Bailly will play alongside him.
Scott McTominay come back into the XI after not playing at the weekend, allowing Nemanja Matic some rest. Donny van de Beek will play once again, while Fred makes up the midfield trio.
Odion Ighalo will lead the line for United with the front three all changing. Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard will play off the right and left-hand side respectively.
They’ll be ample fire-power to call upon from off the substitutes bench, though here’s to hoping that Solskjaer doesn’t have to utilise them!
