Predicted Man Utd XI vs Brighton (Premier League home, 2020/21)

Well, after a fortnight hiatus due to the international break, our Red Devils are back. It’s time for our predicted Man Utd XI vs Brighton.

International football sucks, doesn’t it? Outside of the major competitions over the summer every couple of years, all it does is get in the way. Alas, we can rejoice, as Manchester United are now back and they’ll be no more breaks from now until the season’s end.

Nine league games are left. Hopefully, we have five Europa League matches too. Fourteen games in total and it all starts with Brighton & Hove Albion this coming Sunday night.

This period was supposed to be the time where United get players back from injury. Sadly, Anthony Martial has only compounded matters by picking up a knee problem. Victor Lindelof was also sent home from Sweden duty, though hopefully, that was as a precaution.

With that in mind, United should go as strong as possible here, in order to cement their place in the top four, allowing rest for our players later on in the campaign. Anyway, let’s get right into it…

Predicted Man Utd XI vs Brighton in full:

The bold decision here is who starts in goal. I’ve gone for Dean Henderson, who now deserves the number one jersey on a permanent basis.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is always going to start at right-back, while Luke Shaw will be feeling in a brilliant mood after his England recall. He starts over on the left. Harry Maguire is included in the team as per usual with the aforementioned Lindelof completing the back four.

Scott McTominay deserves to play at the midfield’s base here, though it was a real toss-up between he and Nemanja Matic. I’ve gone for Paul Pogba to play despite being involved for France on Wednesday, with Bruno Fernandes completing the line-up. He’ll be feeling pretty fresh after being sent home by Portugal following picking up a suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards.

Mason Greenwood is a lethal finisher so why not give him the chance to prove himself as the main striker? Marcus Rashford will be over his left-shoulder, with Daniel James completing the side.

Edinson Cavani should take up his place on the bench alongside the likes of Fred, Alex Telles and *maybe* Martial. Let’s hope the Frenchman is fit enough…
