The Red Devils have a chance to make it three wins from three in European football. Ahead of that game, it’s time for our predicted Man Utd Xi vs Istanbul Basaksehir.

To a man, every single player impressed against RB Leipzig. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United had pulled off another European masterclass, which makes our Premier League performances all-the-more disappointing.

Focusing on the positives, United are two from two in Europe and a win in their next game should all-but seal safe passage through into the knockout stages. Istanbul Basaksehir are the opponents, though they cannot be underestimated. They’re a good side with their own ideologies and philosophies. On their home turf, they won’t be easy to beat.

It’s why United’s squad depth is so vital. Solskjaer can make changes for this one, while still fielding a side jam-packed with quality. I’d expect at least a handful of players to come into the side, without disrupting the main core of players who have performed well of late.

Anyway, let’s get right into our predicted side for this one…

David de Gea will keep his place in between the sticks. Our Spaniard seems to have cleaned up those mistakes he was making last season, looking back to his brilliant best.

Three of the back four will stay the same from last time out. Captain Harry Maguire will continue, with both full-backs, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the team from the off. Axel Tuanzebe hasn’t played for a fortnight and this is the perfect time to give him some more minutes.

Nemanja Matic will be feeling well-rested and he’ll play in that defensive midfield role. Donny van de Beek will also start, alongside Bruno Fernandes. This is a midfield partnership that everyone is excited to see.

Edinson Cavani makes his first Manchester United start here, after he’s had a few substitute appearances under his belt. He’ll look to his left and see Marcus Rashford while on his right, Juan Mata gets the nod.

The bench is jam-packed with quality. Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood are the big difference-makers who are available if things aren’t going to plan.
