Predicted Man Utd XI vs Leeds United (Premier League home, 2020/21)

The Red Devils take on their old enemy from across the Pennines tomorrow afternoon. Games against our Yorkshire rivals have been few and far between, which is why there’s plenty of excitement around this one. Ahead of the fixture, it’s time for our predicted Man Utd XI vs Leeds United…

With a win, Manchester United will keep up the pressure on Liverpool who currently occupy top spot. However, that’s fair easier said than done. Marcelo Bielsa’s men play some lovely, high-octane football which will undoubtedly give us some serious trouble.

The Red Devils’ home form has been truly shocking. What better time to put that right than against Leeds United? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side simply have to start this match quicker than they’ve started pretty much every game recently. You do not want to go a goal or two down against these guys.

Ahead of the game, Edinson Cavani gave his manager a nice injury boost, with the experienced striker set to be available for selection here. Will he start this one? Probably not, but having him as an option off the bench could be key.

Anyway, let’s get right into the team we think Solskjaer will entrust to go out there and get the job done tomorrow…

David de Gea will return to the starting line-up for this one, after being rested in midweek.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will obviously start, while Luke Shaw replaces Alex Telles at left-back. Harry Maguire will play and captain United. He’ll partner Victor Lindelof at the heart of the back four.

I’ve gone for Scott McTominay at the midfield’s base. His mobility and physicality could be key to winning the middle-of-the-park battle. Fred always starts in big games and it’s a no-brainer to play him here. Bruno Fernandes will always get the nod whenever fit.

Anthony Martial scored his first goal in a while on Thursday night so hopefully, confidence is flowing through him again. Marcus Rashford will play off the left-flank with Mason Greenwood over on the right.

There is quality on the bench should we need in. The aforementioned Cavani will be joined by the likes of Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek amongst the substitutes.
