The games are already coming thick and fast for the Red Devils, with it being time for our predicted Man Utd XI vs Luton Town.

It’d be pretty naive if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t ring the changes here. With no pre-season for Manchester United, all those players need to get competitive minutes under their belts. Fortunately, with three games a week being played, it shouldn’t take them too long to get up to speed.

The main complaint with this squad is the lack of depth, hence why signings need to be made this summer. The line-up that’ll be named tonight will only reinforce that belief, with some sub-par players getting minutes in this one.

Injuries to Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe rule them both out, though aside from that, the Baby Faced Assassin has a pretty big squad to choose from.

Anyway, let’s delve right into the XI we think the gaffer will go with, but before we start, any United team should have more than enough to get this job done.

It’s Dean Henderson time. After signing a new deal, we fully think he’s ready for his debut. Why not ease him in during a cup game against lower league opposition? It feels like the perfect situation.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed out at the weekend as he returned to training late, but this will be a good chance for him to get an hour under his belt. Brandon Williams, who continues to improve, plays on the opposite flank. They’ll be no Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire here. Eric Bailly will start, while we’ll also see a full debut for Teden Mengi.

Nemanja Matic is another who needs to play. He’ll get the nod, with Fred and Donny van de Beek ahead of him. I’m excited to see how the Dutchman fares on his first start.

Odion Ighalo will lead the line, with Jesse Lingard on his left and Juan Mata on his right. Simply put, this back-up front three is not good enough to win trophies. We need to go out there and sign a new winger as soon as physically possible.
