Man United continue their pre-season with a game against QPR tomorrow afternoon. Let’s get right into the all-important team news.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now entering into his third full season as Manchester United manager, with this squad looking in fantastic shape.
Slowly but surely, we’re heading in the right direction. However, there’s only so long patience will continue, particularly if we remain trophy-less. With big money spent, you feel as though this season has to be the one where we line the cabinet with some silverware.
Although pre-season results are pretty meaningless, it’s all about building up the fitness levels. At this moment, the squad Solskjaer is working with is a very young one – due to international commitments over the summer.
With that in mind, this is an excellent chance to gauge how some of the next generation are developing. Let’s take a look at the line-up we think our gaffer will go with…
Check out the predicted Man Utd XI vs QPR in full here:
Lee Grant will come into the side in between the sticks in place of Tom Heaton, as Solskjaer will want to get a look at how the veteran is doing.
Alex Telles will make his first start of pre-season over on the left-hand side of defence, with Brandon Williams playing at right-back. I’ve gone for the same back two that played last time, with Axel Tuanzebe partnering Teden Mengi.
Nemanja Matic sits at the base of midfield, bringing some experience to an extremely youthful starting side. James Garner will be given another chance to impress, while Shola Shoretire will be involved from the off.
Mason Greenwood will lead the line as he stakes his claim for a starting berth going into the new campaign, with Jesse Lingard on his right and Facundo Pellistri over on the left.
As per usual, we’ll stress that this is a rough guideline as it’s tricky to work out starting XIs for pre-season games.
