Our predicted MUFC XI for the pre-season game vs Arsenal is now in.
Manchester United football Club have won two from two in pre-season so far, though it’s fair to say those squads are not really reflective of how the Reds will look when the serious stuff starts next month.
Erik ten Hag has now named his US Tour squad, with many more senior faces in the mix after their delayed return to training due to international participation.
The Old Trafford side will now start to see the fixtures come thick and fast. Three games will be played over the next week. All of them will bring their own tests.
First up, Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s side were good last season, so this is a nice chance to see how we stack up against a top team. With that in mind, I’d expect United to name a strong team as they look to throw down a marker.
Anyway, after much deliberation, we’ve come up with a predicted line-up for this clash. So let’s get right into it.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Arsenal in full here:
Tom Heaton will start in between the sticks. There’s a chance we could see Andre Onana in some capacity, but I’d be surprised if he starts.
Diogo Dalot gets the nod at right-back here, with the man from Portugal looking to reaffirm his spot as first-choice in that position. Luke Shaw will start at left-back. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane is United’s best back two.
Casemiro was outstanding during his debut season and I’d expect he’ll maintain those levels here. Mason Mount has looked good in his first couple of matches, but I’m desperate to see him play with the senior reds. Bruno Fernandes (c) completes the midfield.
Anthony Martial is absolutely approaching the last chance saloon. We need to see something from the Frenchman this season, or else he’ll be out the exit door. To his right and left respectively is Antony and Marcus Rashford. Let’s hope we see goals from these three!
