Our predicted MUFC XI for the EFL Cup home game vs Aston Villa is now in…

Manchester United were well-beaten by Aston Villa in the Premier League over the weekend, during a game where the Red Devils just didn’t turn up. Matches like that were always to be expected in the rebuilding process.

The good news? Erik ten Hag’s side have an opportunity for revenge on Thursday. Aston Villa come to Old Trafford this time, in an EFL Cup game with a spot in the fourth round on the line.

Alright, this is the competition we tend to care least about, though it does represent a decent chance at silverware if United can string a good run together.

Line-ups for these matches are always tough to predict, though I do think we’ll see at least a few changes made by the boss for this one. So let’s get right into it.

Check out our predicted MUFC XI for the EFL Cup game vs Aston Villa in full here:

The team starts with a full debut for Martin Dubravka. We’ve been made to wait to see a debut from the former Newcastle United man. This feels like an excellent chance to see him in action.

Diogo Dalot will start as he’s suspended at the weekend. Over on the left-hand side of defence, Tyrell Malacia will play. Lisandro Martinez will partner Harry Maguire at the back.

This game will also see the return of the ‘McFred’ midfield tandem. It’s about time Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are given some well-deserved rest. Slightly further up the field, Bruno Fernandes will be included from the off. He was absent at the weekend after his suspension, so he’ll be feeling relatively fresh.

Marcus Rashford will likely lead the line here, with Cristiano Ronaldo not producing the goods of late. To his right and left respectively is Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho. This front three has serious amounts of potential and natural ability, so let’s see how it all plays out…
