Predicted MUFC XI vs Aston Villa (FA Cup home, 2021/22)

Our predicted MUFC XI vs Aston Villa is now in, with the Red Devils beginning their FA Cup campaign at Old Trafford tonight.

Make no mistake about it, Ralf Rangnick is already feeling the pressure. The German started well results-wise, but the performances haven’t yet been up to scratch.

Outside of a great 30 minutes against Crystal Palace, the pressing game just hasn’t been implemented yet. With a full week in between fixtures, perhaps this game against Aston Villa is when we’re going to see some high-intensity play from our Red Devils…

Aston Villa, led by Steven Gerrard, will be coming to Manchester looking to cause the cup upset so we’ll have to be at our absolute best here to ensure safe progression. Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news.

Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Aston Villa in full here:

David de Gea obviously starts in between the sticks, with the superstar Spaniard displaying his brilliant best with regularity this year.

Diogo Dalot has been benched for the last couple of games for one reason or another – but this feels like a perfect opportunity to get him back into the side. Whether we like it or not, Luke Shaw is still our best left-back. He has to start here. Raphael Varane needs the minutes under his belt. He’ll partner Victor Lindelof, following his bout of Covid-19.

Scott McTominay and Fred is our best defensive-midfield duo. I know that’s not the ideal scenario but they’re what we’ll have to work with for this one. Hopefully, they’re feeling good here.

Bruno Fernandes hasn’t quite adapted to the 4-2-2-2 formation as of yet but I maintain the belief that he’s our most important player. He will play, as will Donny van de Beek who will be given his first start under Rangnick.

Cristiano Ronaldo starts when fit, with the Portuguese superstar set to get the nod again here. I’ve gone for Edinson Cavani over the youth of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford as this is a must-win game.
