MUFC are right back at it this midweek in the wake of the World Cup, with a home game vs Burnley in the Carabao Cup in the offing.

The World Cup is now over. And what an exciting tournament it was. Anyway, the bread and butter that is club football is back. I genuinely couldn’t be more excited to see how Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United get on…

First up is a potentially-tricky Carabao Cup tie at home to Burnley. The Championship club always put up a tough fight when they’re playing the 20-time Premier League champions. We should expect no different here with Vincent Kompany at the helm…

Ten Hag sadly doesn’t have a full squad to work with right now. Several Reds made it into the business end of the World Cup, meaning they’re now being given some time off to rest up and recharge their batteries. The two lads that made it to the final may not even play in the Premier League next week…

Anyway, with that in mind, let’s get right into the all-important team news, with United still having a strong enough squad (on paper at least), to get the job done…

Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Burnley in full here:

David de Gea wasn’t in the Spain squad this time, so the goalkeeper will be feeling ready to get involved here. No doubt he could be in for a busy evening.

The back four does look different. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has barely played this term, but he’s needed in this one. Over at left-back, Tyrell Malacia should get the nod ahead of Luke Shaw, largely due to international commitments. Victor Lindelof will absolutely play. We think Harry Maguire will partner him.

Scott McTominay wasn’t involved in Qatar so he’ll be feeling fully fit, with Christian Eriksen’s Denmark exiting early. Donny van de Beek was another Qatar absence. He’s still trying to prove his worth.

Anthony Martial will have benefitted from the time off. He will be fully hungry to start getting some minutes under his belt. To his left is man-of-the-moment Alejandro Garnacho, with Anthony Elanga completing the line-up.
