Our predicted MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup home leg vs Nottingham Forest is now in…
Manchester United may feel like they already have one foot in the Carabao Cup final. Their 3-0 victory away at Nottingham Forest certainly leaves the Red Devils in a great spot.
Underestimating their opponents here could prove fatal. Forest were better than the 3-0 scoreline suggested last week. Erik ten Hag will know that. Though the temptation to rotate his squad is very real.
No doubt we’ll see some familiar faces sit out, while others will continue to power through the pain barrier and play yet again.
Anyway, with that in mind, let’s delve deeper into the line-up we think we’re likely to see under the Old Trafford floodlights this weekend.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Nottingham Forest in full here:
David de Gea will remain the shot-stopper, though the temptation to bring in a backup goalie will be very real.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka remains the only viable option at right-back due to injuries. He’ll continue. It’s a similar situation over on the left-hand side of defence, with Tyrell Malacia getting the nod. Harry Maguire plays and captains the team, alongside Lisandro Martinez at the back.
The midfield two of Scott McTominay and Fred have rarely played together this term, though this feels like an opportune moment to reunite that partnership which was on full display on a frequent basis last term. We’ve gone for Zidane Iqbal slightly further afield, with the Mancunian set for a real opportunity in front of a packed stadium.
Wout Weghorst leads the line yet again as he remains the only fit striker. To his right and left respectively is talent aplenty in the form of the returning Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.
There’s also plenty of ability and talent on the bench should United need it.
