Our predicted MUFC XI for the game vs Rayo Vallecano is now in.
Just like that, attention turns to another game. Manchester United only took to the field yesterday, suffering their first defeat of pre-season at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
Anyway, our beloved Red Devils are back at it again today, playing twice in two games during the final weekend before the serious stuff starts in seven days’ time.
Erik ten Hag was always going to field his strongest line-up yesterday, though he’s already stated those who appeared off the substitutes bench in that game will be available here. Those that started will not feature, however.
What that means is we’re going to see a side that’s a nice blend of both youth and experience. Oh, and a certain Portuguese superstar is expected to start here and make his first appearance of pre-season.
Anyway, let’s get right into the team news.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Rayo Vallecano in full here:
Tom Heaton will replace David de Gea in goal, with the veteran going into the campaign as our back-up goalkeeper.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will get one final chance to impress the gaffer before the Premier League gets going, though the Englishman does feel like the second choice. Luke Shaw didn’t play yesterday so this feels like a straightforward pick here. Raphael Varane will start, as will summer signing Lisandro Martinez.
The midfield duo is made up of pure youthful exuberance. Both Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage have been an absolute breath of fresh air during this pre-season so I’d love one final opportunity to see what they’re made of. Christian Eriksen will make his first start in that number ten role.
Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line as previously mentioned. It’ll be intriguing to see how he fits into Ten Hag’s plans. To his right and left respectively is Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho. It just shows how threadbare United are in these wide areas and further signings are 100% needed.
