Our first pre-season game is here, as is our first predicted MUFC XI of the summer, as the Reds gear up to take on Rosenborg.
Here we go again! Erik ten Hag remains in charge. The European Championship and Copa America are over. Club football is back!
For Manchester United, it all starts today against Rosenborg in Norway. The squad has been named, with the Red Devils taking a young group over to Scandinavia for this one.
These are the next generation of footballers who are chomping at the bit for their opportunity. For many, this pre-season is a massive opportunity to emulate the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Amad, who have forced themselves into the manager’s plans during these friendly games.
Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we like to provide predicted line-ups for every single game, including pre-season. Although these matches are infinitely more difficult to work out, we’ve given it our best shot for the Rosenborg game below.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Rosenborg in full here:
Radek Vitek is the most senior keeper in the squad, so his inclusion makes perfect sense to us here. I am a big fan of the 20-year-old Czech shot-stopper.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the experienced player at the back. He starts on the right-hand side of defence, with Harry Amass getting the nod over on the left. Will Fish and Rhys Bennett are the back two combination. Both of whom have genuine potential to go very far within this sport.
Toby Collyer recently signed a new contract extension at United and this is his first venture into the first-team fold at Old Trafford. Who better to learn from than Casemiro? Mason Mount completes the midfield trio.
Joe Hugill impressed me during last summer’s tour and Ten Hag seemingly wants another look at the striker to see how his development is going. On the left is Marcus Rashford who si looking for a bounce-back year, with Ethan Wheatley making up the XI.
No doubt we’ll see a heavy dose of the other players in the squad off the substitutes bench during this game.
