After much deliberation, our predicted MUFC XI vs Southampton is now in.
Manchester United’s away form was nothing short of spectacular in 2020/21. It was the foundation upon which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was built from. Whether fans (or lack of) made a difference will soon be found out…
Anyway, our away matches for this campaign start this Sunday against Southampton. It’s a fixture in which United have traditionally struggled, though more often than not, have managed to grind out a positive result. Let’s hope for more comfortable viewing this time around.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side play some lovely football on their day, so we must not underestimate our opponents here.
On the flip side, our players will be going into this one brimming with confidence, so it’s up to the lads to start fast and get the job done. Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news.
Check out the predicted MUFC XI vs Southampton in full here:

David de Gea will definitely keep his place in between the sticks for this one, with Dean Henderson still unavailable for selection following his bout of Covid-19.
The back four will also remain the same. As much as I’d like to see Raphael Varane start, he just hasn’t played anywhere near enough football to really be considered. From right to left, it’ll be Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.
Our midfield trio is also very likely to remain the same. Scott McTominay was an absolute powerhouse at the base of the three last time out and we’ll need his energy again here. Fred did his job well, while he’s started this campaign with his shooting boots firmly on. Bruno Fernandes, well, he just continues to do what he does best; contribute to goals.
This is not a drill. We believe Jadon Sancho starts. Although Dan James was pretty good last time out, Sancho will allow us to take it up another notch, provided he plays to his capabilities. Mason Greenwood was sublime against Leeds United and he’ll lead the line again here. I’ve gone for Paul Pogba on that left-hand side on the back of his best game in Reds colours.
