Predicted MUFC XI vs Southampton (Premier League away, 2022/23)

Our predicted MUFC XI for the 2022/23 away game vs Southampton is now in…

Manchester United picked up a huge first victory of the season last time out, beating Liverpool under the floodlights at a buzzing Old Trafford.

It felt like the Erik ten Hag era had truly begun. Though that victory will be forgotten quickly if the 20-time Premier League champions don’t back that up with another positive performance this weekend.

Southampton always provide a stern test, particularly on their home turf. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side plays lovely football. They’ll be well up for it when the Red Devils come to town this Saturday lunchtime.

It’s up to Ten Hag’s side to go into this game with the required desire, intent and purpose. If the lads apply themselves correctly, they have a great chance at winning all three points.

Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news.

Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Southampton in full here:

David de Gea starts in between the sticks, though if the Martin Dubravka rumours are true, that may not be the case for too much longer…

The back four that took on Liverpool should 100% remain in tact. Tyrell Malacia looked outstanding in that one, while Diogo Dalot also played his best game of the young season. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane looks like a partnership with genuine potential. It wouldn’t make any sense to break that up.

The defence will also be helped by arguably the best holding midfielder in the business, with Casemiro coming into the team to make his first start. He’ll be partnered by Brazil teammate and friend, Fred. Bruno Fernandes will keep the captain’s armband, playing in that #10 role.

Anthony Martial absolutely has to lead the line if he’s fit. To his right and left respectively are the goalscorers from the Liverpool game. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford looked exceptional on Monday night. Let’s keep that momentum rolling.

  1. Superb playing by Scot Mctomminay, Martinez and Bruno.
Also Dalot and all are other players played a bit ok. But you all still have keep on improving on your game with especially holding possession and passing it most of the time to your players instead wrongly passing. Then even improve upon the speed to match very strong teams like Southampton their speed on the ball was very good.
Elanga also making that forward and confident run instead of passing and passing so many times instead of running up with the ball.
    Congrats on your win.
