Manchester United have played better over the last two games. However, this is a results business. The draw against Burnley and shootout loss against Middlesbrough left an inevitable bad taste in the mouth.
Well, the games are now coming thick and fast, with the Red Devils hosting Southampton tomorrow lunchtime. Make no mistake about it, Ralph Hassenhuttl’s team are coming here to upset the apple cart.
Ralf Rangnick’s Reds will have to play to their absolute maximum, produce the controlling performance like we know they can, but finally deliver an emphatic result.
With that in mind, let’s get right into the predicted team news, in regards to what starting line-up can make that happen…

The easiest choice of the lot is David de Gea. The Spanish goalkeeper will start when fit and he’ll probably have a fairly busy afternoon here.
Moving over to right-back, we have Diogo Dalot. The Portugal international has been putting in some improved performances of late and he deserves to be in the XI here. Over on the left, Luke Shaw will play. Raphael Varane has been our best centre-back of late, with Victor Lindelof coming into the team in place of the struggling Harry Maguire.
Scott McTominay will continue to sit at the base of our midfield, with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba making up the midfield. It’ll be interesting to see how the Frenchman copes playing three games in a week despite such a long absence.
Cristiano Ronaldo would’ve been frustrated to be named as a sub in midweek, so he’ll come back with a point to prove in this one. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho make up the starting line-up.
