MUFC take on West Ham for the second time in the space of a few days, here’s a predicted XI for this one…
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils sit joint-top of the Premier League table after five games played. Manchester United have started well, though there’s going to be a long road ahead.
For now, attentions turn to the EFL Cup. Manchester United will take on West Ham United again here, though this time the fixture will be at Old Trafford.
Although winning a trophy is priority number one for United this term, I’d imagine the EFL Cup is the bottom of that list. Sure, it’d be nice to progress but there are bigger fish to fry.
In this one, we’d expect to see a much-changed XI take to the field. In fact, I’d imagine we’ll see ten changes made. It would’ve been eleven if we’d have had Alex Telles fit and ready to play here. Anyway, let’s get right into it…
Check out the predicted MUFC XI vs West Ham (EFL Cup, 2021/22) here:
Tom Heaton should come into the team for his first United start since returning. This will be a nice opportunity for the Englishman to show us all what he can do.
Diogo Dalot deserves a chance and this feels like a good starting point for him. Over on the left, Luke Shaw keeps his place in the squad. The back two does change but still looks strong. Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof need minutes. Let’s get them some against a good West Ham side.
Nemanja Matic starts as he looks to show everyone he still has what it takes to play at the highest level. Jesse Lingard will start, Solskjaer has already confirmed that. Donny van de Beek will complete the midfield trio.
Anthony Martial will start this one up top, giving Cristiano Ronaldo a rest. Jadon Sancho will be included as he looks to find his feet, with Juan Mata completing the team.
