Manchester United visit Wearside on Sunday, with an injury hit squad available to Louis van Gaal. New signings Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have both been ruled out due to injury, whereas Marcos Rojo’s work permit hasn’t come through in time. There are also injuries to Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Jesse Lingard. Van Persie could return.
We do have some players back and available for selection however, with Antonio Valencia, Jonny Evans and Danny Welbeck all returning to training. The situation isn’t ideal for Louis van Gaal though, with a Capital One Cup clash against the MK Dons on Tuesday; Just 48 hours after the Sunderland game.
