Predicted Starting XI: Manchester United vs AFC Bournemouth

Manchester United will take to the Old Trafford turf for one final time this season, with Louis van Gaal’s men hosting Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth. Van Gaal’s side need a win to even give themselves a chance at finishing in the Champions League spot, but they also need a favour from Swansea.

Ahead of the game, we’ve decided to take a look at the possible starting line-up, and it certainly looks extremely strong on paper.

David de Gea will obviously get the nod in goal, and he’ll have a familiar back two of Chris Smaling and Daley Blind just in front of him. On the flanks, we should see the return of Timothy Fosu-Mensah if he’s fit, and Antonio Valencia at right-back.

Onto the midfield – we’re still without Marouane Fellaini and Bastian Schweinsteiger, so the obvious duo would be Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin, particularly after Herrera’s horror show in midweek.

The front four is where we look strongest. Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all start – they have the perfect blend of pace, intelligence and finishing prowess, so they should have enough to bag all three points here.

Starting XI

De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Fosu-Mensah; Schneiderlin, Carrick; Mata, Rooney, Martial; Rashford.
