The Champions League returns to Old Trafford tomorrow night, and United take on one of the hipster sides of this current season, Real Sociedad. Our visitors sit bottom of the Champions League Group A after losing both their opening matches, so they’ll be coming to Manchester without any fear.
United have done relatively well in Europe when you compare it to their league form. They sit joint top of the group with four points, and a win at home tomorrow would leave us in a commanding position where progression into the knockout rounds is concerned.
I’d expect David Moyes to make at least a few changes. Javier Hernandez, Shinji Kagawa and Antonio Valencia should all come into the side. I can’t see Adnan Januzaj featuring though, his young legs looked weary in the second half of the Southampton game and he’ll probably get a well deserved rest.
Predicted starting XI
De Gea; Rafael, Smalling, Jones, Buttner; Carrick, Cleverley; Valencia, Rooney, Kagawa; Hernandez
