Predicted Starting XI: United vs Villa

With the title potentially up for grabs against relegation battlers Aston Villa, I’m sure Fergie will field a full strength side in the hope of getting the title wrapped up as soon as possible. The sooner we get it won the better, every time we slip up City get that little bit more hope and United players will get jittery.

The back two will surely be tested by the strength of Christian Benteke and the pace of Gabby Agbonlahor, just as they were last time the sides met when Villa took a 2-0 lead early in the second half at Villa Park. Thankfully a superb hat-trick from Chicharito saved our blushes that day, and this time we face them with the title on the line.

I reckon Fergie will make a couple of changes for Monday night, and I’m hoping he goes for the diamond formation that has worked so well at times this season. Tom Cleverley hasn’t played in a while and I think he’ll return to partner Michael Carrick in the centre of midfield, behind them we’ll see Jones in the defensive midfield role.

Jonny Evans was on the bench as he makes a return from injury, and with Vidic being badly bruised from the West Ham game, I reckon we’ll see him drop to the bench in place of the Irishman.

Shinji Kagawa was arguably our Man of the Match against West Ham as he played a part in both goals, and for me he has to start in his favoured position in behind the strikers.

Perhaps the two surprises in terms of exclusions from the Young Player of the Year awards are David de Gea and Rafael. For me the pair have had a much better season than Danny Welbeck, and both can count themselves unlucky not to be nominated. Especially when Jack Wilshere has missed half of the season due to injury.

My prediction: United 3-1 Aston Villa
