The last time these two sides met, the game ended with a remarkable 5-5 scoreline, it was also Sir Alex Ferguson’s last match in charge of Manchester United. David Moyes has now been at the helm for almost three months, and our performances have been somewhat of a mixed bag since he took charge.
We’ve seen great displays in the games against Swansea, Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool in the Capital One Cup. But alongside that we’ve seen disappointment against Liverpool at Anfield, and that horrific derby day demolition last weekend.
David Moyes will have plenty of selection problems ahead of the game tomorrow, especially after the Capital One Cup game where some players have certainly played their way into the Scot’s thinking. Phil Jones put in a Man of the Match performance, Nani seemingly found his flair again and Javier Hernandez did what he always does; found the back of the net. Then you have Rafael and Jonny Evans who are back fit again, both of whom completed 90 minutes on Wednesday night, too. Will this game come too soon for them? Do their performances merit a spot in the starting line-up? Have a look at our choices below.
Predicted starting XI
De Gea; Rafael, Evans, Vidic, Evra; Carrick, Fellaini; Nani, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez
Despite Robin van Persie being available for selection again I think Javier Hernandez deserves a start after that excellent 60 minutes he got under his belt on Wednesday. Van Persie can’t be 100% ready so give him an extra few days and save him for the potentially tricky trip to Shakhtar on Wednesday.
