Predicted XI: Man United vs Chelsea (Premier League 2019)

Manchester United’s Premier League season opener is already upon us, with Frank Lampard’s Chelsea heading North for what could well be an eventual battle for a spot in the top four.

The game itself brings excitement aplenty for the Red Devils. It’ll be the first opportunity to see the likes of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire in action for the first time – while we’ll also get another look at some familiar faces, too.

Over the summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s high-pressing style was worked on intensely. Six wins from six was a brilliant way to kick the campaign off, though this one is the true test.

Anyway, let’s get right into the predicted Man United XI for the crucial clash at Old Trafford this Sunday…

David de Gea will start in goal, although I’m surprised United haven’t announced a new contract for the #1 as of yet.

Here comes the exciting stuff; our defence suddenly looks a whole lot better. Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof make up the left-hand side of defence, while two new signings, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, play on the right.

Scott McTominay had a great pre-season and for me, he’s already surpassed Nemanja Matic for the starting role. Paul Pogba will play alongside the young Scot.

United’s front four is exciting, youthful and extremely quick. Marcus Rashford will be down as the main striker, with Jesse Lingard sitting just in behind. Daniel James will start over on the right with Anthony Martial playing on the left. The good thing is that these guys can all interchange and interlink as they see fit, so expect to see them popping up all over the field.
