Manchester United Football Club have missed out on the signing of Serge Aurier this summer, due to the fact that Tottenham Hotspur’s bid was more lucrative. That’s what SFR Sport says, translated by GFFN.
Apparently, the player himself would have preferred a move to Manchester United, which, to be honest, is pretty much a given. Why wouldn’t you want to move to a side that won two trophies last year rather than a team that struggles to fill up their cabinet with silverware.
Aurier, 24, was linked with a stunning move to United earlier on in the window, but now it seems like Spurs have won the race. I’d go as far as this – if Jose Mourinho wanted him badly enough, then he’d be on his way to Manchester rather than North London.
The right-back position is an interesting one. The manager has Antonio Valencia to call upon as his first-choice, but outside of the Ecuador star, there isn’t much depth – particularly when you consider that we allowed Timothy Fosu-Mensah to head to Crystal Palace on loan.
At the end of the day, we aren’t going to question Mourinho right now. The Portuguese boss has gotten each and every one of his transfer decisions correct so far and long may that continue.
