Premier League club tried to sign Anthony Martial after Manchester United bid

Manchester United made the biggest move on transfer deadline day, as they secured the signature of the talented (and sought after) AS Monaco star Anthony Martial. The 19-year old cost £36million to bring to Old Trafford, but they weren’t the only one who tried to sign him…

According to The Times, Chelsea were willing to match Manchester United’s bid for Anthony Martial, but were told that a deal was already in place and the youngster would move to The Theatre of Dreams.

It was reported that a whole host of clubs including Chelsea, Barcelona and PSG were all tracking Martial, which shows just how highly rated the Frenchman is. Hopefully he can now show that on the pitch.

The best thing about Martial is that he doesn’t seem to be at all phased by the huge transfer fee, and he seems to be coping well with the pressure.

He is currently with the France international squad, but is expected to link up with his new domestic teammates for the first time on Thursday.
