Premier League midfielder makes bold statement about Wayne Rooney

Manchester United have been without Wayne Rooney for the last couple of months due to an ongoing knee problem, but he is expected to return in the not too distant future – meaning he should be fit for England. Charlie Adam of Stoke City has had his say on our captain, and reckons he’s the best man to lead the line for the Three Lions.

“I still think Wayne Rooney is still the best English striker at the moment.” Adam said. “If he was playing in the better team at the moment, he’d still be the top England striker.”

“I think Wayne Rooney is a better player than Harry Kane.”

Wayne Rooney has plenty of attributes to succeed in various positions on the field, but his best position is certainly up front. At the end of the day his experience will be vital for England, ad if fit he’ll surely play a huge part at the European Championships this summer.

However is he the best out and out striker this country has at the moment? I’d say probably not, with Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane certainly vying for that starting berth in France.
