Premier League rival make stunning approach to sign Man United’s versatile star: report

Stoke City have made an approach to see if they can sign Ashley Young from Manchester United. That’s what The Sun writes, in an exclusive. They reckon The Potters are eyeing a move for our winger, as they see him as a direct replacement for the outgoing Marco Arnautovic.

Young, now 32, has been at the club for several years now and whenever called upon, the Englishman has proved he is more than capable of playing at the highest level.

I’m sure that Jose Mourinho will want to keep hold of a man who is up there amongst our most senior players now following the departure of Wayne Rooney this summer.

On top of that, his versatility is a huge asset. He can play as a left-sided defender, as well as filling in on either flank if needed. This is something that Mourinho loves, and I just don’t see the Red Devils letting go of him so easily.

There would be no real financial incentive for the Old Trafford club either. In terms of a transfer fee, they aren’t going to get a colossal amount of money for a man approaching the end of his career; and it’s not as if the club need the money anyway.
