Premier League side interested in signing £5million-rated Man United man: report

West Bromwich Albion are apparently keen on signing Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who adds that the Red Devils value the Englishman at around £5million; following an impressive loan spell at Aston Villa in the Championship.

The report is claiming that the Midlands club is after a replacement for Ben Foster, who could be on his way back to Watford. Where United are concerned, this move couldn’t be any timelier.

Earlier today, we learned that the Old Trafford club are set to seal a deal for Stoke City shot-stopper, Lee Grant. This seems like the ideal one-in-one-out situation.

United would then have three senior goalkeepers, allowing them to cash in on Johnstone, while also potentially loaning out the immensely talented Joel Pereira.

At this point, it certainly seems like the wise move to get whatever we can for the Englishman. He’s an excellent goalkeeper in his own right, but let’s be honest, he’s never going to usurp David de Gea or Sergio Romero in between the sticks, is he?

If we can get £5million for a lad who’s played just a few first-team games, then it makes great business sense. Take that money and use it towards bringing in a new right-winger. That’d be my preference, anyway…
