Preview: Manchester United vs Leicester City 2018/19 – team news, score prediction, odds

The big kick-off is here. Manchester United Football Club takes on Leicester City in a huge fixture, that could well set the tone for the 2018/19 campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s men need three points desperately in this one, as to silence the transfer deadline day doubters so that torrid summer can just be forgotten about.

Kick-off time: 20:00 BST

Jose Mourinho is without six first-teamers. Regular starters, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia will all miss out, as will Diogo Dalot, Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero.

Paul Pogba, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini have all returned to training following their World Cup exploits, but it’s unclear as to whether they’ll start, or play any minutes whatsoever in this one.

Odds

Manchester United: 8/15
Draw: 14/5
Leicester: 13/2

The hosts are considerable favourites, but this is by no means a gimme. Claude Puel’s side cannot be taken lightly, they can play football, they love to defend. Mourinho’s starting XI will have to be on their A-game if they’re to celebrate all three points tonight, make no mistake about it.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Leicester City.

Despite not signing a centre-back, United will do a number on Jamie Vardy and keep the Foxes quiet. With enough firepower, fronted by Alexis Sanchez, the Red Devils will bag a couple and start the season as they mean to go on.

COME ON UNITED!
