Manchester United Football Club have already added Victor Lindelof to bolster their defensive options this summer, with Jose Mourinho clearly intent on strengthening in that area of the field.
Now, a new name has been thrown into the ring; Serge Aurier of Paris Saint-Germain. In a report from France Football, the Ivorian has apparently come to the decision that he wants to leave the French capital this summer – and Manchester United, along with a whole host of others are interested.
The 24-year-old has been on PSG’s books since a loan move in 2014, but he’s been in and out of the team and it finally seems like he’s had enough.
That begs the question as to whether the Red Devils even need a right-back. Antonio Valencia was one of the best in the Premier League last season, and Mourinho seems to love him.
However, outside of the Ecuadorian, we don’t have any other options and Aurier would certainly bring that strength in depth. There is no doubt that he’d get plenty of opportunities, but he’d have to perform at an extremely high level to displace Valencia in the team.
If the fee was right, I’d be all for signing the Ivory Coast international, but with stiff competition for his signature, it definitely will not be easy.
