Rafael da Silva will always have a place in the heart of many-a-Manchester United fan. After all, the loveable Brazilian, along with his twin brother, were part of the golden age at Old Trafford.
Us Red Devils supporters never forget. Even when players move on, we always appreciate our own. Rafael is Red through and through and despite the fact he’s now playing elsewhere, his impact will always be fondly remembered.
Last night, Rafael would have the game of his life against his beloved United. He’d put in a Man of the Match performance, inspiring his Istanbul Basaksehir side to a 2-1 victory. It pains me to say it, but it was a deserved win for the Turkish outfit.
Rafael would win every 50/50, put his body on the line for the cause and in general, be a real thorn in our side for 90 minutes straight. It’s just a shame an inspired display like that came against us!
Anyway, after the match, Rafael da Silva took to Twitter to send a heartfelt message to the fans after his teams’ victory. He stated it was a ‘different feeling’ to play against the team he loves (most, not must) in his life. Before adding he can’t wait to see us at Old Trafford.
Check out Rafael’s tweet here:
It sounds pretty mad to write, but if the players within that United dressing room had half as much passion or dedication as Rafael, we’d be in a very decent position. I actually think the Brazilian could do a job for us still and I don’t doubt that he’d give even more than 100% for the club he still openly supports.
I’m just gutted that when he returns to Old Trafford for the second meeting between the sides, there won’t be a full house to give Rafael the standing ovation that he desperately deserves.
Fair play to you, Rafa!
