Ralf Rangnick has confirmed Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson will start for Man United vs Young Boys tomorrow.
With a new manager comes new ideas. Manchester United will, slowly but surely, morph into a different side under Ralf Rangnick.
As things stand, we don’t really know the identity of the players he wants to build around though that picture will quickly be painted.
Next up for the Reds is their last Champions League group stage fixture against Young Boys. The good news for the German is that there is absolutely zero pressure on this one as we’ve already qualified.
Well ahead of the game, the gaffer has confirmed two United starters; Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson.
Check out what the gaffer had to say here:
“To start with, they will both play in the first XI tomorrow,” Rangnick said to the media (MEN) when asked about Van de Beek and Henderson’s inclusions “And, as you saw, Donny came on as a sub last Sunday.”
I felt like Van de Beek was dead-set to start against Crystal Palace on Sunday and as soon as that didn’t happen, you got the impression he’d play here instead.
No doubt the Dutchman is chomping at the bit to try and prove to everyone that he has what it takes to become a regular starter at a massive club like United. This is the start of a new beginning for the 24-year-old.
As for Hendo, we all know what he’s capable of. The Englishman is an outstanding goalkeeper within his own right, it’s just tough for him that he has David de Gea in his path.
There’s talk of a loan move away from Manchester for Henderson which would make sense in the short-term, but I genuinely do believe we have a future number one on our hands so I hope he makes an early positive impression on Rangnick.
I’d also suspect to see a few more fringe players within the team for tomorrow’s game. It’s certainly going to be intriguing.
