Man United could dip their toes into the January transfer market, with Amadou Haidara already under consideration…
Over the summer, it felt like pretty common knowledge that Manchester United would have liked to have signed a midfielder. Sadly, the club couldn’t get that deal done – despite some great additions elsewhere.
Whether it cost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his job is another matter entirely, but the problem still exists with the Baby Faced Assassin now gone.
Ralf Rangnick’s move to Old Trafford on an interim basis has already been confirmed – and to our surprise, he may well be given money to spend in January.
That’s according to The Times, who state that Rangnick is considering a mid-season move for 23-year-old midfielder, Amadou Haidara.
The man from Mali has a £33m release clause in his current RB Leipzig, and United fans may well already be familiar with the name as he scored against us in the Champions League last season.
What’s interesting about Haidara is that he’s a big fan of United. Make no mistake about it, this would be a dream come true if Rangnick decided to make a move for the midfielder in the mid-season window.
It’s also worth noting that Rangnick brought Haidara to RB Leipzig back in 2019, so the pair have previously worked together. Simply put, the German knows exactly what the midfielder will offer – so this does feel like an astute piece of business.
At the end of the day, our midfield needs major help. Haidara could single-handedly transform that area of the field for us if he fulfils that potential and talent.
At just £33m this does feel like a bit of a bargain for a player who could easily over us a decade of service all being well. Plus, you get the feeling that Rangnick wants to bring in some players who thrive in that high-pressing system.
