After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s very average start to the 2019/20 term, Manchester United could well be in the hunt for a new manager in the not too distant future.

Today, a new potential name has been thrown into the ring. The story comes from SportBild’s Christian Falk, who states that 61-year-old Ralf Rangnick has emerged as a candidate to manage United – should Solskjaer leave…

Rangnick has managed a whole host of sides in Germany, including Schalke 04, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. However, United could face competition with the German interested in potentially managing FC Bayern (should the opportunity arise of course).

In terms of honours, Rangnick has won the DFB Pokal, the German second division and one Intertoto Cup. Although I guess you have to factor in that Bayern have been dominant in his homeland for the majority of his managerial career…

One thing that I do like about Rangnick is that he always gets the absolute maximum out of his players. For that reason, I think it could well be worth the punt should the Baby Faced Assassin be relieved of his duties.

For now, though, United should stick with Solskjaer until at least next summer. He’s shown early promise and his signings have been good. The last thing the Reds need is another reset.
