Man United boss Ralf Rangnick is trying to get the Reds to make their move for Erling Haaland.
Ralf Rangnick’s time at Manchester United thus far has been pretty positive. The Red Devils are unbeaten in his three games, though the performances haven’t been up to his high standards just yet.
In time, I don’t doubt the German will get it right. While for those who aren’t suffering from Covid-19, this period without a game can only help out in that regard.
Well, as we approach transfer season, United are starting to get linked with more and more names. One familiar name to Reds fans is Erling Haaland.
United worked hard to try and sign the Norwegian a couple of years ago but in the end, the striker would head to Borussia Dortmund. You cannot argue with that decision, given how well he’s done in Germany.
Well, United are ready to make that attempt again. According to the Manchester Evening News, Rangnick is ‘pushing’ for United to sign the top-class 21-year-old.
Understandably, the Reds face ‘intense competition’ to sign Haaland, though not many clubs have the resources to meet his £63.8m (€75m) release clause.
The Old Trafford club do not believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking would hamper their chances at signing Haaland. Something which I agree with, given the Baby Faced Assassin was in place when the striker chose Dortmund instead.
United are apparently ‘determined’ to sign a forward ahead of next season, particularly with Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, and Paul Pogba all out of contract. On top of that, Anthony Martial also wants to leave.
I’d swap any of those guys for Haaland in a heartbeat. This is someone who could lead our line for the next ten years and score goals galore. Though beating off the competition given our current league standing may prove tough…
