Manchester United interim manager has finally told us all when he’ll speak with the incoming Erik ten Hag.
The whole point about bringing Ralf Rangnick in on an interim basis was to use his knowledge in the short-term.
Make no mistake about it, the German will know everything there is to know about the players in that dressing room. He’ll understand who the positive ones are. He’ll have discovered who are the rotten eggs. No doubt that information will be passed on to a certain Dutchman.
With Rangnick staying on in some sort of consultancy role, it’s a good bet to believe that he and Ten Hag will be in regular contact – about potential signings, current players and who to promote from within the youth system etc.
Well in his pre-match press conference yesterday, Rangnick has finally revealed when he’ll speak with Ten Hag – and presumably fill him in on all the details discussed above…
Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:
“We will definitely speak at the end of the season.” Rangnick told ManUtd.com.
“Both Erik and myself want to have our full focus on the outstanding games, he has another three games to play and will obviously do everything to win the league in the Netherlands.”
“We have agreed we will have a chat and speak about everything at the end of the season.”
Waiting until the end of the campaign definitely makes sense. After all, both Rangnick and Ten Hag still have respective jobs to do.
With three games left in the Eredivisie, Ten Hag has to be fully focused on delivering one final piece of silverware to Ajax; a club that has been so kind to the 52-year-old.
There’s no point in causing distractions for both Ten Hag and Rangnick, by opening that dialogue before the campaign ends.
I’d imagine these talks, when they do take place, will be extremely productive. Rangnick will give Ten Hag the full lowdown on the squad – both good and bad, to leave the current Ajax gaffer in the best place possible when he walks through the Old Trafford entrance doors over the summer.
