Ralf Rangnick is starting to doubt Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the 2022/23 season. Yes, you did read that correctly…
Under Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United have undoubtedly improved. Slowly but surely, the Red Devils are beginning to form a new identity.
The results may have been mixed, though when you talk about controlling games, United seem to be doing that far more often.
Weirdly, scoring goals has turned into the problem (unless we’re playing Leeds United!). A major factor behind us dropping two points at home to Watford last time out was poor finishing from a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.
The striker has struggled greatly in some games this season, highlighting that he’s no longer got it in the tank to perform at an incredibly-high level week-in-week-out. Now, Rangnick is starting to doubt United’s number seven…
The story comes from the Manchester Evening News, who state that Rangnick has ‘major reservations’ about the key star being involved in his plans next season.
Sources state that Rangnick’s patience with Ronaldo is wearing thing, after just one goal in his last ten, with some pretty dire performances to go along with that.
The problem Rangnick has for the remainder of this season is the fact that the lack of other options almost makes Ronaldo undroppable. Let’s be honest, Edinson Cavani’s fitness is a concern, while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga are better as wingers rather than strikers.
Rangnick will begin a two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford from this summer and no doubt he’ll have a huge say on the players who the Reds could well sign. There’s no doubt the addition of at least one centre-forward will be atop his priority list…
